The $6,000 Cheeseburger Insight

“I can’t possibly charge that much...no one will pay.”

This way of thinking keeps talented coaches and service providers grossly under-earning in their business for years and decades.

There’s a yoga teacher in California who teaches yoga instructors how to master handstands. For $10,000.

There’s a coach who helps leaders become even better leaders. His fee is one million dollars. He doesn’t need the money. He does it to test the commitment of his clients.

There’s a burger made of Wagyu Beef and Beluga Caviar in Europe. It’s served with a Dom Perignon coated bun. It costs $6,000. 

People pay between $125-$600 for one pound of Kopi Luwak coffee.

People pay for value-based outcomes. Value is perceived, it is highly personal.

Like the yoga instructor who wants to feel even stronger and more confident as a teacher while offering more advanced physical and spiritual transformation to their students which a handstand practice is known to do; 

Like the burnt out leader who is losing millions of dollars (and reputation) each year to high employee churn due to poor hiring practices and communication gaps among its senior leadership team;

Like the hardworking son who set aside savings each month for years to surprise his loving Father with a ‘best burger in the world’ bonding experience;

Like the mom whose only respite from running a household, taking care of kids and working a full-time job is the 10 minutes of peace and joy she has every morning, sipping her cherished cup of coffee, but not just any cup of coffee. The one that makes her feel wealthy, and powerful.

People pay for valued-based outcomes. Value is perceived, it is highly personal.

If you’re a coach, consultant or other service provider, you are likely supporting your clients to achieve a better standard of health, wealth, relationships or personal development. Not to mention many other potential micro-outcomes within these different categories that most people perceive as highly valuable to them. 

The people in our industry who don’t understand this tend to be unclear about the value-based outcomes their services create and for whom they’re best created for.

Not having done the foundational work to figure this out usually results in being wishy-washy with how you craft and communicate your services and offers, surface level messaging and marketing that isn’t getting noticed, accepting anyone as a client, having clients get a wide array of results, having to convince people to sign up with you, ‘handling objections’ regularly, etc., I could go on and on.

Helping you to uncover and clarify the value-based outcomes you help your clients create is just one way that our programs add immense value to the right service-based businesses.
