My 3 New Habits for 2024

My 3 New Habits for 2024

I’ve never aligned myself with the concept of “resolutions.”

And I very rarely establish new “goals” at the start of a new year.

What I do have are intentions for every category of my life, which inform the way I show up in those areas, always.

And there’s always room for improvement, for raising the bar, and for growth, expansion, and abundance in all areas, (and I love that).

Author James Clear says the following:

“New goals don’t deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle is a process, not an outcome. For this reason, all of your energy should go into building better habits, not chasing better results.”

Towards the end of last year, I scanned my life for the parts that I felt could use a bit more intention and attention.

I took a look at how I was living and who I was being, what felt good, what didn’t, and what could feel better—

And there were a few things that stood out to me:

The first thing I noticed was how much tighter and inflexible my body felt as a mom to a 16 month old. Before motherhood, I made time everyday to stretch, a habit I’ve since traded for some extra sleep. With this awareness, I immediately changed my daily alarm clock to wake up 10-15 minutes earlier. A small habit change with a massive impact (the slight knee pain I was having on walks is noticeably better, hallelujah).

Habit change #1.

The other thing that felt long overdue for an upgrade was the fact that I’ve been using the same dumbbell weights for over 5 years. For a while I’d think of it during my workouts, “you know, you could really use a heavier weight now,” yet I’d put off the simple two-click purchase time and time again.

Turning 40 this year, I have a belief of getting more fit, more healthy, and more strong with age. I ordered the new weights. My body is thanking (hurting) me already.

Habit change #2.

Last thing, and probably the most important, is paying attention to the energy I bring and carry in my home. Because it can shift the dynamics and frequency, in either a positive or negative direction, through one thought I think, one belief I hold, and one emotion I put out.

For example, as a partner, mother, business owner, etc., etc., it could be easier for me to go, “there’s just not enough of me to go around,” and view the people around me as taking away from me, but I’d much rather experience them as adding to me. So I’ve made a point to gently observe myself throughout the day. Who am I being in this moment? Is my response to this thing coming from the best version of myself? An entirely different way to approach a busy day or week.

There you have it, habit change #3.

A few small habits I’m integrating this year, because better habits equal better lifestyle, which equals better results. And I’m all about that.

What are some habits, whether seemingly big or small, are you focused on integrating right now?

It’s been over and beyond what I thought it would be

Before we started working together I was seeing clients and I was making money, paying the bills. But I didn't realize just how small I was allowing myself to play until I started working with you. It’s been over and beyond what I thought it would be—over and beyond.
